Discover the story of the Old Market Hall and the history of the markets in our capital! On the occasion of this year's 111th birthday of the Old Markt Hall building, we invite you to a special outdoor exhibition prepared for you by Bratislavské rožky Civic Association.
The markets have a long history in Prešporok, later in Bratislava, and are a symbol of the coexistence of different nationalities who lived and still live here. In the past, markets were the most common form of shopping - you found almost everything there - fruits, vegetables, meat, bakery products, fish, even live animals!
A panel pop-up exhibition will take you on a walk through the history of shopping in the capital. We will also recall the story of the Old Market, which in 111 years of its existence, thanks to its location in the city center, witnessed the historical events that shaped the history of the city and the whole country, and in which it lives to this day.
At the exhibition, you can admire more than century-old postcards with the motif of the Old Market Hall building, many previously publicly unpublished valuable period photographs of press agencies, as well as photographs of the market created by Anton Šmotlák.
