Energetic efectivity

In 2022, Europe experienced an energy crisis that significantly affected the functioning of the Old Market. At the same time, the end of the service life of our gas boiler was approaching. That's why we decided to proceed with a major energy revision of the building. The goal was to set a sustainable operation for the next decades. Read more

During the markets, visitors have the opportunity to experience our Canteen. What makes it special? The dishes that are cooked here are prepared from ingredients from our market vendors, so the ingredients go from the farm directly to the plate. This type of gastronomy is called Farm to Fork. Farmers of the TRH PIAC MARKT

For us, Saturday food markets were already at the very beginning of our operation within the Old market an absolute priority. We cared about getting back the food into this wonderful space, and with it, above all, its producers from the wider region. Already in ancient times, farmers came to the market hall and the square in front of it with their goods from beyond the banks of the Danube and the Moravia, and you usually spoke in Slovak, German and Hungarian at the market. Today it is no different, which is symbolically reflected in its very name, Trh Piac Markt (note: Piac = market in Hungarian, Markt = market in German) Read more
Food market TRH-PIAC-MARKT

Regular food markets organized by the civic association Aliancia Stará
The market has been held for only ten years and continues the tradition of the building as a market space. The modern history of markets in the Stara tržnica began on September 21, 2013 with the first Piac Markt food market. Read more

One of the newest green projects that we implement within the building is the Green Roof. Since the original roof of the building requires reconstruction, we decided to examine current possibilities and examples of good practice from around the world and prepare this reconstruction in such a way that it reflects the demands of the 21st century. Composting station

Did you know that during standard operation we can produce up to 100 kg of biodegradable waste in one day in the entire Old Market? Since we are constantly trying to be more ecological, thanks to Slovenská sporiteľna we purchased an industrial electric composter at the beginning of 2021, which can transform this waste into valuable compost that can be used again in the ecosystem. Second chance

There are many ways to reduce the ecological impact of our activities. One of them is the reuse of things that have already been used or are being used. The original owner is no longer interested in them, but someone else can still use them. Sometimes a certain material appears to be waste, but for a skilled craftsman it is a valuable raw material.
