Thanks to Slovenská sporiteľňa, we are making green activities in the Old Markethall visible.

Businesses and services

We select the businesses in the Old Market Hall so that they provide services to various target groups and at the same time have a certain added value for their surroundings or society as part of their activities.

Green roof

Green roof

In 2022, we started intensively focusing on the idea of a green roof in the Old market Hall. The ecological benefits of planting a large area of the roof are indisputable, both for the building itself and for the city center. This project is another step towards the long-term sustainability of the entire Old Market Square project.

In the first step, we started with a test version in the form of a community garden for people from the Old Town. Various crops are grown, a passive green roof zone is created, various substrates are tested, water management is adjusted and the garden is also used for educational purposes or as a stop during the tour of the Invisible Market.

The long-term vision is a full-fledged green roof, to which the wider public will have access, with the possibility of growing for their own use and for growing crops for the surrounding businesses. As well as educational activities for all age groups with a focus on the topic of green roofs and ecological sustainability of cities.

The Community Garden project is realized thanks to the financial support of the Bratislava City Foundation, cooperation with the companies Strešné substraty and Ecosedum. Educational activities are carried out thanks to the financial support of the ZSE Foundation.
