The old market hall will offer a unique experience! In the main hall throughout the summer, you can see and experience a large, site-specific installation called Tube from the Austrian-Croatian group Numen / For use. The monumental climbing frame for young and old will be available to visitors from June 22 to August 29, 2021.
Tube is a pilot project of a summer presentation of contemporary visual art in the Old Market Hall, which was created in cooperation with the main project partner Slovenská sporiteľňa and festival Biela noc.
The interactive visual network consists of two tunnel routes with a length of 180 meters. A total of 1,300 m2 of the net and 9,000 meters of rope were used for its installation. The object floats freely in space and the crawling visitor has the opportunity to perceive the space and the installation itself from unusual angles and views. "Safety nets are gently tightened and pulsated thanks to the movement of visitors, who become a direct part of the airwalk through space, which provides a new physical experience of the game with perspective. Tube thus becomes a kind of social sculpture, a place of meeting and searching for limits in the new context of space-time, “says the curator of the exhibition Zuzana Pacáková from the White Night festival.
The authors of the work are the international group Numen / For Use. A team of visual artists, designers, architects, and set designers, composed of Sven Jonke, Christoph Katzler, and Nikola Radeljković, is known for their large-scale interactive works that reap success around the world - exhibiting in Paris, Moscow, London, Seoul, Sao Paulo, Melbourne, Tokyo, neighboring Vienna, or other world capitals.
Since 1998, they have been active in the field of conceptual art, scenography, as well as industrial and spatial design. They focus mainly on creating objects and concepts without predefined functions, which leads to relatively hybrid and highly experimental works. These include, for example, String, Net, or Tape installations, which you have already seen with us as part of the White Night festival. However, it will be the Slovak premiere for the Tube installation.

The Tube installation has already been visited by almost 200,000 visitors worldwide. From June 22 to August 29, 2021, you can experience it for yourself in the Old Market, every week from Tuesday to Friday between 12:00 and 21:00 and on Sunday from 10:00 to 19:00, except dates 21 and 22 July 2021.
